In May, I took a direct flight from Riyadh to Mumbai — just over four hours — and I was blown away.
I’ve been to a few places in India, but Mumbai is hands down my favorite. I felt completely safe the entire time, the food was incredible, and it was surprisingly easy to get around the city.
I did a bit of everything:
I visited Elephanta Island and explored the ancient caves, took a guided slum tour that offered an eye-opening and respectful look at a very misunderstood part of the city, and even had a random moment on the street where a camera crew filmed me — I might end up in the background of an Indian soap opera. No idea what it was, but it was Bollywood magic.
One of the highlights was visiting the world’s largest pagoda — the Global Vipassana Pagoda — where I joined a short guided meditation. It was peaceful, calm, and a great balance to the city’s energy.

Everyone I met was kind and helpful, and although it was hot in May, the weather was sunny and clear every day. I stayed at The Oberoi Mumbai, which I highly recommend. The service, the views, the location — everything about it was perfect.
If you’re living in Riyadh and looking for a new destination to explore, Mumbai is a great option. It’s full of life, culture, great food, and surprises around every corner. Honestly, it felt like the city never sleeps — in the best way.
